In Showdown, a scratched runner doesn't mean you're out of luck. Here's how we handle these situations:
- If Showdown is Still Open for Entry:
- You can change your selection for the affected race.
- Simply go to your Betslip and update your pick for that leg.
- This gives you the opportunity to choose another horse you think has a good chance.
- If Showdown is Closed for Entry:
- Don't worry - you'll still have a runner in the race.
- You'll be automatically allocated a replacement horse.
- The allocation system works as follows: a) You're given the horse with the highest saddle cloth number in that race. b) If that horse is also scratched, you get the next highest number, and so on.
- Example of Closed Showdown Allocation:
- Your original pick: Runner #4 (scratched)
- Highest saddle cloth in race: #8
- You're allocated Runner #8
- If #8 is also scratched, you'd get #7, then #6, etc.
- Multiple Scratches:
- This system ensures you always have a runner, even if there are multiple scratches.
- In the unlikely event all higher numbers are scratched, you'd be allocated the lowest available number.
- Points Calculation:
- Your allocated runner earns points just like any other selection.
- If it wins or places, you'll receive the corresponding Best Tote odds as points.
Remember, while you can't control scratches, this system ensures you're always in the running. Stay engaged with the event, as unexpected changes can sometimes lead to surprising outcomes!
